'Ideas' (or not)

Does the English language have a word for an 'idea' that isn't actually one?

eg: Here's this for an idea. Build a car that runs on water and costs £1000 to make. Then sell them for £2000. You'll make a fortune!

ETA: I think the word 'undea' should be made official for this concept!

Plan? Scheme?

Is that a concept or a proposal?

and anyway...you build a car that runs on water but needs to be replaced after 10,000 miles, that costs £1000 to make and sells for £2000. That way they have to keep coming back for more

Well it's actually not to do with cars at all - I need a word to use for the 'ideas' of this one idiot who comments on our porn scenes.

They're so ridiculous, unrealistic and totally impractical that you might as well say "you should film a fistfuck gangrape out in the public street in front of a police station".
I mean, that's not an idea - that's a... I don't know! It's just dumb.

....um...stupid, cockeyed, way to get locked away for a very long time.
and seriously if you've got this guy sending in suggestions for this kind of thing its probably best to pass the letters on to the police to get this guy taken away for psychiatric assesment asap

I don't think he means a real police station, it's just that since we've filmed some quasi 'public' (with extras and in closed spaces) scenes, he thinks we'll just cater to his fantasies, no matter how impractical and prohibitively expensive they might be.

You could call them "musings"?
Mar. 5th, 2009 07:14 pm (UTC)
In that sentence, I would have said "suggestion"
